  • The Wood Store Brighton (Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project)
    4.7
Gnd Floor, Oakley Hse, Edward St, Brighton, BN2 0BA, GB

Welcome to The Wood Store, where innovation meets sustainability since 1998. Formerly known as the Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project, we pioneered a movement that reimagined waste timber as a precious resource deserving a second life. Protecting the Environment: We collect, recycle, and re-use reclaimed waste wood across East and West Sussex, championing resource conservation for a greener planet. Educating and Promoting Change: Through educational materials and affordable sustainably-produced timber, we inspire a community dedicated to responsible consumption and a sustainable future. Changing Lives and Building Futures: Beyond jobs, we offer work placements, training, qualifications, mentoring, and volunteering opportunities, focusing on empowering those facing challenges in the job market. Join us in weaving a tapestry of change, one reclaimed piece of wood at a time. We operate a delivery service in Sussex. All enquiries/ orders by phone, email, text or WhatsApp Our Impact In 2022, we rescued 686 tonnes of timber from the waste stream. We saved 342 tonnes of C02 from re-entering the atmosphere. We created 16 paid jobs and trained 70 people. Of the 686 tonnes of wood diverted from the waste stream, 155.2 tonnes was pushed up the waste hierarchy into reuse: used by the community for DIY/building projects or as firewood, or made into a whole range of beautiful products from bird boxes to dining tables. And 430.9 tonnes was recycled: either sent for recycling into woodchip, used in the manufacture of particleboard, animal bedding, or as carbon neutral fuel in power stations. With us, everything we collect is reused or recycled - nothing is returned to the waste stream. Reusing wood is 10 times more efficient than harvesting, milling, and transporting virgin wood. Even our collection methodology saves carbon! Our 3.5 tonne collection trucks use less than half the fuel of a skip lorry, greatly reducing CO2 emissions, pollution, and the impact on the road. With every tonne of wood we collect, we are creating work and training opportunities for disadvantaged people - changing lives for the better. We are part of the Community Wood Recycling network. Frequently Asked Questions About Scaffolding Rental

Get answers to common questions about scaffolding rentals and finding the right scaffolding rental company in the UK.

How do I find scaffolding rental companies near me?

To find scaffolding rental companies in your area, use:
  • Online Directories: ScaffoldingHQ is a specialized directory that connects you with reputable rental providers.
  • Search Engines: Search for 'scaffolding rental [your location]' on Google or other search engines.
  • Local Business Listings: Check local business listings, such as Yelp or Yellow Pages, for scaffolding rental companies.
  • Word-of-Mouth Referrals: Ask contractors, builders, or friends for recommendations.
When choosing a company, verify their credentials and read reviews from previous customers.

How do I know what size scaffolding I need?

Determining the correct scaffolding size depends on:
  • Working Height: Measure the height of the area you need to access, adding a safety margin for guardrails.
  • Project Scope: Consider the tasks you'll be performing on the scaffolding and the space required for workers, materials, and equipment.
  • Site Access and Constraints: Evaluate the available space for erecting the scaffolding and any obstacles (trees, structures, utilities) that might restrict size.
A reputable scaffolding rental company can help you assess your project needs and recommend the appropriate scaffolding size and configuration.

What are the weight limits for different types of scaffolding?

The weight capacity of scaffolding varies by type and design:
  • Tube and Clamp: Capacity depends on the configuration and the strength of the components.
  • System Scaffolding: Typically has higher load capacities due to its pre-engineered design.
  • Mobile Towers: Have specific weight limits based on their size and model.
Always check the scaffolding tag for the maximum load capacity and never exceed it. Consult with an engineer for projects with heavy loads or unique requirements.

What is the difference between renting and buying scaffolding?

The decision to rent or buy scaffolding depends on your specific needs and circumstances:
Renting Scaffolding:
  • Cost-Effective for Short-Term Projects: Renting is generally more affordable for projects that don't require scaffolding for an extended period.
  • No Storage or Maintenance Costs: You don't have to worry about storing or maintaining the scaffolding after your project.
  • Access to a Variety of Equipment: Rental companies offer a wide selection of scaffolding types and sizes, allowing you to choose the best fit for your project.
Buying Scaffolding:
  • Long-Term Investment: Buying makes sense if you anticipate frequent scaffolding needs over a long period.
  • Customization: You can customize the scaffolding to fit your specific requirements.
  • Potential Resale Value: You can potentially resell the scaffolding after you no longer need it.
Consider the frequency of use, project duration, storage space, and overall budget when making this decision.
